August

We said goodbye to summer vacation by having one last swimming play date with some friends we met in Tiger cubs.

Then on August 7th we started school again!
Leah started 11th grade.

Kaitlyn started 8th grade.
Hyrum started 4th grade.
Amy started 2nd grade.

Bus stop buddies

Amy's teacher gave her a "magic" glitter packet to sprinkle under her pillow the night before school started to help drive all the nervousness away while she slept.  She woke up covered in glitter!  We scrambled to get it off before she left.

Our ward had a Primary talent show the weekend after school started.  Amy played a piano piece she composed herself!  I can't figure out how to get the video to not be sideways.  She also made a clay sculpture.  Hyrum created an artwork piece of the kids in our family, and he also played a piano piece.

A family in our ward made bobble-heads of the bishopric and performed a dancing number.  It was pretty hilarious!

August 21st we got to view 98% of the solar eclipse.  We were amazed at how much light there still was.  Everything went an eerie gray color, but it did not get dark.  We did get to see a lot of shadows from leaves that looked like fish scales!

Leah started marching band in August.  She really enjoyed this experience!

Love this post! I have to ask, did other kids have glitter problems the first day of school? How crazy?! I loved Amy's composition--especially the glissandos! And Hyrum, you'll have to tell Janna about your piece, she loves Jewish melodies. Leah, your hair looks darling in the double french braids! You look so sharp in your uniform, I love it! Kaitlyn, quit growing up! I can't believe you're already in 8th grade! Can't wait to see you all soon.
