May was extremely busy as always plus had some few extras thrown in!
Amy had her 8th grade orchestra concert. She won an award for getting a superior rating in solo ensemble earlier in the year. They had a few extra fun things in this concert. It was one of the conductor's birthdays, so they played a surprise rendition of "Happy Birthday." They had a slideshow of all the 8th graders with baby pictures. They played a Star Wars number with a special guest conductor and they used "light sabers" as their bows.
Hyrum also had a band concert the same night Amy had her 8th grade concert.
We celebrated Kaitlyn's birthday.
Amy gave her a plant with a pot that happened to match Kaitlyn.
The day after Kaitlyn's birthday, Jared and Genevieve flew to Utah to spend time with Leah. We were very excited and grateful that Leah made the decision to receive further temple ordinances in the Bountiful, Utah temple!
Utah happened to have a week of snow while we were there. We even got a small hail storm.
The temple was a wonderful experience with Leah. We are grateful for all the family that gathered to support her.
Afterwards we gathered to get some ice cream.
While we were in Utah we were able to attend our nephew Michael's orchestra concert.
The day we flew back to Georgia, Hyrum had a band awards night. We didn't get there in time to attend the ceremony, but we caught this picture of him afterwards with his award. While we were in Utah, he also had a jazz band concert. Katilyn went and recorded the pieces for us.

On Mother's Day I asked the kids to play some beautiful music. They did, sort of...I came into the music room to this chaos:
We attended Amy's 8th grade promotion/awards ceremony. She won several awards, including the Top Dawg award (each teacher chooses one student who reflects excellence academically and in character and leadership). Amy's language arts teacher selected her as his Top Dawg.
We also attended Amy's 8th grade walk on the last day of school. The 8th graders circle the outside of the school twice while all the 6th and 7th graders, and the families of the 8th graders cheer them on.

Genevieve finished up her last PTSA duties with a board meeting and with dressing up on the last day of school to wish the students a happy last day and happy summer.
Amy was invited to a Gwinnett County Schools Board meeting where she was recognized for getting a superior rating in the Spanish Speaking competition.
Hyrum built a foosball/pinball table with his some of his classmates for an engineering class. It's an original idea and design!
Amy and Leah went to Ihop for a girl's night. Amy was surprised by how much food came in her order.
Amy's violin recital was special this year. She played the Bach Double with Kaitlyn. Leah and Genevieve made the piano accompaniment into a duet since it is so difficult to play.
Kaitlyn, Hyrum and Amy enjoyed kicking off the summer in the pool.
Jared and Amy went to Girl's Camp.
Each year plastic ducks are hidden around Girl's Camp. It's a competition to see which ward can find the most of them. Our ward has won for the past three years.
Amy was the volcano in our ward's skit.
Hyrum spent a day with his friends at a house on the lake.
Jared and Hyrum went to Young Men's Camp. Jared sent Genevieve this video to show that Young Men's Camp is definitely different than Girl's Camp:
