Our computer has issues right now...we've been without internet for over a week (thankfully that's back). We've wiped our computer clean and are in the process of reloading EVERYTHING, including all the software. SO, I have some fun pictures to post from the last few weeks, but it will take me a while.
In the meantime, here's a quote to start off November that I'll be using in Family Home Evening tonight. It's from President Monson's talk, "The Divine Gift of Gratitude" from October's General Conference:
"...do we remember to give thanks for the blessings we receive? Sincerely giving thanks not only helps us recognize our blessings, but it also unlocks the doors of heaven and helps us feel God's love."
Okay, here's another one since I'm grateful for this talk (here he's quoting President Joseph F. Smith):
"The grateful man sees so much in the world to be thankful for, and with him the good outweighs the evil. Love overpowers jealousy, and light drives darkness out of his life."
HAPPY FALL!
By the way, I'm compromising with Jared this year...he hates it when Christmas celebrations start too early and wants to pay adequate tribute to Thanksgiving. Well, the kids NEED to practice Christmas songs now so they'll learn them in time :) and I NEED to start shopping to avoid chaos :). Here's the compromise and I'm excited about it: I'm very excited to focus this month on GRATITUDE. I think we can build in some valuable family traditions centering on gratitude for the month of November. Anyone have any tried & true suggestions?

These statements are just what I needed for the Relief Society newsletters I mail, since there isn't a VT message in the November Ensign for this month. I always add a thought, poem, or statement in November and May. Thanks so much!
We always start out the month with our "Thankful Turkeys"(we list things we're thankful for on their feathers...I'll be posting about it soon), and then I cut out fall leaves and everyday we write something we're thankful for for the entire month of November. We hang our turkeys and leaves on a wall where we see it everyday and it really helps us focus on how much we have and how grateful we should be! Tanner was SUPER excited to make his turkey for FHE tonight.
I love those quotes. They get me into the Thanksgiving mood.
