Washington D.C.

We spent this past weekend in Washington D.C. for Jared's sister Dianne's wedding!!! Before all the wedding festivities we took Friday morning to tour D.C. We saw the Washington memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the White House in the distance, and one of the Smithsonian museums, the Natural History Museum. This museum had a butterfly garden which was a highlight for the kids. When we asked them their favorite part of the day, however, they said it was getting ice cream after all the touring! The thing that surprised me about Washington D.C. was seeing the White House surrounded by a bunch of business buildings. I guess I thought the White House was isolated in a green park setting. I was really surprised to see the White House dwarfed by the surrounding high rises.

It makes Austin and I miss D.C.!! What a neat experience to visit the nation's capital around the 4th of July.

I love DC - it is such a fun place to visit and explore. Glad you were able to fit in some sight-seeing before the wedding. I can't wait to see pictures of the wedding!!!

Fun!! You guys managed to fit in a lot more than we did when we were there a couple weekends ago for a family wedding! We are going to have to go back there...someday! I hope you had fun!

PS. I thought the same thing about the White House and actually made the comment that the movies don't paint an accurate setting!
