Palmyra, NY

We were grateful for the opportunity to visit Palmyra, NY which has great significance for our religion.  This is the area where Joseph Smith received an answer to his prayer which changed the world.  You can read about his experience here. This is also the area in which the Book of Mormon was first discovered and published.  We cherish this volume of scripture and it was a sacred experience for us as a family.
A view of the Palmyra temple from Joseph Smith's home.  The temple actually sits on the Smith's property.

The Hill Cumorah where Joseph Smith was given the Golden Plates (a record of an ancient American people who knew of Christ and recorded prophecies of Him and His gospel).  For a free copy of the Book of Mormon click here

We missed the Hill Cumorah pageant by a few days but got to see the preparations for it in the background.

Touring Joseph Smith's home

The Alvin tree - this tree was planted in memory of Joseph Smith's brother, Alvin the year he died.  It was also the year the Church was organized in 1830, so it is a living monument showing the age of the Church.

This barn was built by our children's great-great-great-great-great-great Grandfather John Young and was transferred to the Smith property.

Standing in front of the printing press where the Book of Mormon was first published.
