Amy got braces and an expander at the beginning of July.
We continued to work on the garage on July 4th.
Amy went with the youth her age from church to a rock climbing activity. She had a blast!
The end of July held some pretty crazy adventures for our family. Jared and Hyrum were at Youth Conference. Genevieve's sister Lisa and her family were vacationing at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Genevieve, Leah, Kaitlyn, and Amy drove to Hilton Head and Jared and Hyrum drove from Youth Conference to Hilton Head to meet up with Lisa's family. The evening before Jared and Hyrum drove down, Jared noticed his license plate on the truck was missing. He called the police to see what to do. The sheriff's computer was down, but he took the information and said he would call back. He called back about 10 minutes later and told Jared that his license plate had been attached to a car that had been involved in grand larceny! We were glad Jared called the police before the police were looking for him! Jared drove to Hilton Head without a license plate and luckily was never pulled over. Genevieve noticed the battery light on the van came on when she and the girls were about an hour away from Hilton Head. She was about to stop for lunch. She contacted Jared who said to let the van rest while they stopped for lunch and see if that reset things. It seemed to do the trick. She and the girls made it to Hilton Head and had fun with Lisa's family while they waited for Jared and Hyrum to arrive soon after. When Jared and Hyrum arrived, the plan was for everyone to drive to the apartment where our family was staying. Lisa's family drove first with our family trailing behind. Within a few minutes the battery light came back on in the van, the air conditioning turned off, and the van started shutting down. We were able to pull into a parking lot that had an ice-cream store and then the van quit and would not restart. Our kids had ice-cream while they waited for Lisa's family to pick them up. The kids enjoyed the weekend with Lisa's family. Jared and Genevieve spent hours on Saturday and Sunday trying to fix the van (the alternator was bad). Jared didn't have his tools with him, so he tried to make do with cheap tools from Auto Zone. We went to Sacrament Meeting on Sunday morning and then got back to repairing the van. Jared finished fixing the van just in time to eat dinner and drive back to Georgia with Leah. Both of them had to work on Monday morning. Jared never saw the ocean! Genevieve, Kaitlyn, Hyrum, and Amy enjoyed spending time with Lisa's family Monday at the beach and at an indoor pool before heading back to Georgia.
As a last hurrah to summer, we took the family to see the musical "Wicked" at the Fox Theatre.
And just like that, summer was over and it was time for Open House at the high school.
