Love One Another

We had a Family Home Evening lesson on loving one another a week ago. For that week we tried to see evidences of people in our family showing love. We put up a chart on our door where people could write down things they had seen from others. I was impressed with what our children noticed and also amused with some of the things. Here is our list:

1. Dad let us dog-pile him.
2. Hyrum gave Leah a hug for no reason.
3. Mom let Leah paint before finishing chores.
4. Kaitlyn didn't yell but asked Leah to stop nicely.
5. Amy smiled for us.
6. Kaitlyn helped Hyrum in the bathroom.
7. Leah talked respectfully with Dad on the phone.
8. Mom let Leah have a piece of cake.
9. Kaitlyn tried not to be mad at Leah.
10. Mom tried to be patient.
11. Hyrum was very nice.
12. Kaitlyn tried to comfort Amy.
13. Hyrum kept repeating "I love you Leah".
14. Mom tried not to get mad.
15. Leah helped Daddy get ready for a date with Mommy.
16. Mom was patient with Hyrum at prayer time.
17. Kaitlyn helped set up a surprise party.
18. Dad tried to be in a good mood even though he felt sick.
19. Dad let Leah get a drink of water before bed.
20. Mom tried to take good care of kids without getting mad.
21. Mom read to Kaitlyn.
22. Kaitlyn read stories with Hyrum.
23. Kaitlyn secretly picked up beads that Mom spilled.
24. Mom wasn't upset when medicine (Amoxicillin) leaked on the chair.
25. Kaitlyn played nicely with Leah.
26. Hyrum played nicely with Leah.
27. Mom stayed up way late to make cupcakes.
28. Dad plays with kids every day after work.

I thought in some ways it was too bad that so many of the items on the list were about controlling our temper, but at least I guess it says we're trying!

Good job! I like the comments that were about controling tempers - we've all got them and it's nice to be acknowledged for accomplishing something that's hard to do sometimes!

That's what Love is all about, right -- learning to govern ourselves and do what's best for the family instead of what's easy for us. Good job working on that this week! =)

That's a fun home evening activity. I like the idea of recording the random acts of love that you see during the day.
