July was packed full of activities and will be broken down into several posts. We took a family trip for Hyrum's senior trip to New York City. This trip will be broken down into individual days.
Jared, Genevieve, Hyrum and Amy arrived in New York City several hours before Leah and Kaitlyn, so they explored some of NYC together.
Our first stop was to find a business that would hold our luggage for us. We stopped at a vape shop that was a huge hassle to store luggage, so we abandoned that shop. Before we left though, we thought it was fun to find a cat living in the shop. We've heard that lots of shops in NYC have cats to keep mice and rats away.
We enjoyed eating bagels in Queens.
We had fun navigating the subway trains.
We also enjoyed hearing the "entertainment" that was on several subway trains.
We visited Times Square (the first of many repeat visits).
We went to Central Park.
It was very hot while we were in NYC (very high 90s). We took a break on some benches for a while and saw some squirrels splooting. This means they stretch their bodies out as far as they can to try to cool their bellies on the surface they are on.
We walked for quite a while in Central Park to see a pond where you could launch remote controlled boats. This was featured in a Lego Marvel video game the kids played when they were younger and Hyrum really wanted to see it.
Hyrum also really wanted a hot dog from NYC street vendor, so we stopped for one.
There were tons of pigeons!
We passed the Louis Vuitton building.
We saw a lot of beautiful buildings as we walked all around NYC.
We went to the FAO Schwarz store.
We were excited to meet up with Leah and Kaitlyn as they exited the subway near Times Square.
We went to dinner at Grimaldi's Pizza in Brooklyn. We had been there as a family years before.
