I found out by reading our school newsletter that Leah also won the Young Author's Award for her grade. So, both Leah and Kaitlyn (for her Snow Girl story) will be competing at the county level for their grades. Congratulations girls!
Bird Call - by Leah Nelson
Red at breast, black at wing.
A robin's chirp cries, "Spring! It's Spring!"
Heads bobbing to the crashing wave,
Gulls talking of a summer crave.
Hear his hoarse and hollow call,
Mr. Crow is welcoming fall.
Wings are flapping, some are rustling,
Winter's here, away they're hustling.

Leah, your Great Grandma Crossley used to love to write poems. She would be so proud of your talents!
That is a great poem! I want summer to come and to go to the beach. I was able to visualize each season! You are AWESOME!
