January 2024

Before Leah and Kaitlyn went back to Utah, we took the opportunity to attend the temple baptistry as a family. We were grateful for the opportunity.

We enjoyed a preview 8th grade orchestra concert. The entire 8th grade orchestra (2 classes) was invited to play for the Georgia Educators Music Association's conference at a local university. They were only able to have a few rehearsals all together since they are different class periods during the school day. We enjoyed the preview concert and then enjoyed the actual performance at the University of Georgia in Athens. They were very impressive! It's hard to realize they are only 8th graders.

this conference and was composed by a talented musician
in our ward, Jeremy Woolstenhulme, who is a high school orchestra conductor)

Here is a professional recording of the whole concert: https://saavnow.vhx.tv/products/north-gwinnett-middle-school-8th-grade-orchestra

Leah celebrated her birthday in Utah with Kaitlyn, her grandparents, her aunt Michelle, her Uncle Will and Aunt Geniel, and her cousins Michael and Isabelle. We missed celebrating in person with her, but we were grateful she had a great time.

Hyrum had the great opportunity to have two-time Grammy winner, American Jazz Trumpeter, Scotty Barnhart come to his jazz band to give all of them some pointers. He is the conductor of the Count Basie Orchestra.
