Fort Pulaski

After the beach we toured Fort Pulaski.  This Fort was built during the Revolutionary War to defend against sea attacks.  During the Civil War it was bombarded by Union forces from Tybee Island.  It couldn't withstand an attack by land, and the Confederate soldiers had to surrender.  The coolest thing about Fort Pulaski is looking at the outside wall that was battered with cannon fire.  In one of the pictures Hyrum is pointing to a cannon ball that never detonated and is still stuck in the wall.
