Hooray for General Conference!

Hyrum has been asking anxiously for days if it's time for General Conference for our church. This is a semi-annual event where we hear from our world leaders via television, or in our case the internet. This is such an important event in our church because we believe in a living prophet and apostles. We believe they are inspired to teach us what the Lord wants us to hear at this time. There are 4 two-hour sessions over Saturday and Sunday that our children listen to. The reason he's so excited is that I prepare goody bags for them to use while they listen. I wish I could say his excitement led to quality listening for all of us, but I think that kind of listening will come in a decade or so when our kiddos aren't so little. We're counting on the pattern of watching General Conference together to make a difference right now.

If anyone wonders if three-year-olds can possibly get anything from church talks, however, I think he may have listened better than our others at times. He kept saying things like, "They said temple!" and "Why did they take the little children?" (talking of when Christ gathered the little children) in the Book of Mormon.

You are a great mom! No treat bags around here! Maybe next time. The girl's hair is getting SO long! I feel like we haven't seen you guys in forever!

You bet they listen! Way to make the tradition fun and meaningful! You are a good mom, and it will make a big difference. (My kids got up on Saturday way early excited for Conference - just like Christmas morning!)

What a great idea to have goody bags! I will have to remember that for the future. Glad you had a good time watching conference together!
